About the Team
The General Liability Claims team plays a critical role in supporting Publix’s customers, associates, and business operations by managing liability-related claims with professionalism, consistency, and integrity. The team works closely with legal partners, business leaders, and external stakeholders to evaluate risk, resolve disputes, and ensure claims are handled in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
About the Opportunity
As a General Liability Litigation Claims Supervisor, you will lead a team responsible for managing complex litigated and high-exposure liability claims. This is an excellent opportunity for a claims professional who enjoys balancing technical expertise with people leadership. What You’ll Do

Lead and develop a team of claims professionals responsible for litigated and complex general liability claims.

Provide oversight and guidance on claim investigations, evaluations, negotiations, settlements, and litigation strategy.

Monitor claim activity to ensure quality, consistency, regulatory compliance, and adherence to industry best practices.

Support the resolution of high-severity and complex claims with significant financial or operational impact.

Collaborate with attorneys, mediators, and business partners to achieve effective claim outcomes.

Analyze claim trends and operational performance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Coach and mentor team members through training, development, and performance management initiatives.

Participate in strategic projects and quality improvement efforts that enhance claims operations and customer service.

Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional claims experience; or a high school diploma with 7 years claims experience.

Five or more years of liability claims handling experience, including at least three years handling litigated claims.

Ability to obtain a Florida All Lines Adjuster License, as well as reciprocal licenses in states where Publix operates.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.

Strong knowledge of general liability and automobile liability claims handling practices.

Experience managing claims throughout the litigation process, including settlement negotiations and dispute resolution.

Knowledge of negligence law, damages evaluation, risk transfer principles, and civil litigation procedures.

Proven ability to analyze complex situations, make sound decisions, and manage competing priorities.

Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and relationship-building skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Seven or more years of liability claims handling experience, including extensive litigation exposure.

Prior experience leading or supervising claims professionals.

Professional designations such as CCLA, SCLA, CPCU, ARM, or similar industry certifications.

Active Florida All Lines Adjuster License.

Experience overseeing high-exposure or complex liability claims.

Advanced proficiency with claims technology platforms, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications

Fluent in a second language, such as Spanish

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
