Description

If yes, then this internship at Publix may be the perfect fit for you. The Student Data Analyst program is a semiannual program based in our Lakeland corporate headquarters. Our goal is to provide the Student Data Analyst as much exposure to the day-to-day work of a full-time Data Analyst as possible, so the student works directly with the Publix Supply Chain Data Analytics team to assist with Supply Chain Forecasting, Pharmacy, Inventory Shrinkage, Risk Management, and Activity Based Costing projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and assisting with the development of new analyses, metrics and reports to provide insightful recommendations to supply chain analytics team members and business area leadership
- Developing algorithms and analytical models which transform a process into a data model
- Coordinating with Data Scientists to proactively seek learning and training opportunities to enhance data modeling, statistical analysis and other analytical techniques
- Working with Data Analysts and Data Scientists to research and apply statistical modeling algorithms that can be utilized to improve forecast accuracy
Required Qualifications
- Junior, senior, or master’s candidate in Analytics, MIS, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics or similar analytical discipline
- Demonstrated experience solving analytical problems through internship or coursework
- Solid mathematics and statistics knowledge
- Knowledge of data analytics best practices as they relate to optimizing financial performance, labor efficiency and customer service
- Communication skills (in both written and verbal format), including interpersonal skills
- Analytical and decision-making skills
- Sound organizational skills
- Exceptional multi-tasking and prioritization skills
- Computer and analytical technical skills
- Ability to act in a professional manner
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and be self-directed with workload
- Ability to demonstrate initiative by taking responsibility for learning new skills and processes
- Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation, commitment, and integrity
- Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Access
- Basic knowledge of SQL and Python and/or R
Additional Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a master’s degree program in analytics or a closely related field
- 1 or more years of hands-on experience in SQL, R and/or Python
- Some knowledge of Operations Research
- Project management skills
- Ability to assist the customer in understanding their own needs and how they balance with the needs of Publix
- Power BI (basic)

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
