As a Sr. Financial Business Analyst you will provide analysis, accounting, consulting, recommendations, planning, performance measurement, technical support, training, and project and process improvement support to various levels of assigned RBUs and cross-functional strategic initiative or tactical project teams to enable and support information-based decision making. The incumbent is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with broad knowledge in the field of financial analysis, responsible for project managing the development and deployment of analytical technology solutions, the output of which supports business recommendations or decisions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing Analytical Solutions by using technology to streamline and reinvent existing reports, tools and processes, create new reports, tools and models that can be highly trusted by decision makers to deliver insights and to influence final decision making, and enhance the production, delivery and ease of use of analytical products to empower RBUs to obtain more self-service insights.

  • Providing Project Support and Planning, including comprehensive analytical and consultative business services to support an assigned business function, in addition to generally providing financial-based insights to support strategic or tactical decision needs for RBU leadership that require financial input, including developing and supporting corporate operating cost plans and reporting structures.

  • Providing Ad Hoc Analysis to ensure assigned RBU is properly informed when making decisions.

  • Producing, maintaining and enhancing the financial and operational Recurring Reporting on which the RBUs and corporate leadership routinely rely to stay informed on the performance of their business and to support fact-based decision making.

  • Continuous learning and maintenance and growth of professional skills in finance/accounting, analytical methods and technology.

In Publix’s corporate offices, we value in-person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. Many of Publix’s corporate offices offer work from home up to two days a week. Each business area implements their policy differently and should be discussed during interviews. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Analytics, Information Technology, Statistics or another analytical discipline with at least 3 years relevant finance, accounting and/or analytical experience in an office environment or equivalent OR
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting Finance, Business Administration, Analytics, Information Technology, Statistics or another analytical discipline with at least 5 years finance, accounting and/or analytical experience in an office environment or equivalent OR
  • High School Diploma with at least 7 years relevant finance, accounting and/or analytical experience in an office environment or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Accounting and/or Finance (solid knowledge of accounting principles and exceptional math skills)
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and explain financial information
  • ​​​​​​​knowledge of analytical techniques, including how to quickly identify and correct logical flaws and improve the overall accuracy of the analysis
  • Knowledge of statistics and quantitative methods
  • Knowledge of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) and visual communication tools
  • Knowledge of MicroStrategy Developer, Alteryx, Power Query, or similar ETL tool
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau or similar data visualization tool
  • Ability to attend to and verify the accuracy and completeness of detailed information
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented
  • Problem-solving and research skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Basic Microsoft Access skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Analytics, Information Technology, Statistics or MBA with concentration in Analytics, Accounting or Finance

  • Four (4) years relevant finance, accounting and/or analytical experience in an office environment

  • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, MS Certified Power BI Data Analyst, certified Alteryx Designer, or other certifications specific to the position

  • Knowledge of other Business Units, including their basic roles and responsibilities

  • Deep knowledge of assigned business functions, including their strategic long-term business needs and operational decision processes

  • Knowledge of the Publix retail store environment and operations

  • Knowledge of Nielsen IQ

  • Intermediate Microsoft Access skills

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
