Description

The purpose of this position is to monitor and assess the organizational culture and the impact strategic initiatives place on the associate satisfaction and the workplace overall. This is achieved through the collection and analysis of opinion-based surveys, fact-based assessments, and other studies of associate behavior (e.g. turnover, satisfaction drivers) as well as the research of industry standards. This position identifies and applies the most appropriate survey and research methodologies to design, manage, and analyze quantitative and qualitative associate survey and assessment data. This requires direct interaction with Officers, Directors, Project Sponsors, and other key leaders that are responsible for setting the standard on the organizational culture.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing the work study, methodology, instrument design, planning, consulting, data collection, analysis, and change recommendation for Tier 1 and Tier 2 company initiatives (see below) involving associate workplace initiatives, associate satisfaction, culture initiatives, as well as, assessments of training, store operations, merchandising, and other operational/strategic improvements (e.g. shrink, culture, service, turnover, product quality, etc.).
  • Developing and implementing analytical solutions that address business strategy, scorecard initiatives, and organizational culture opportunities faced by decision makers throughout Publix and translating those outputs into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Conducting statistical analysis to determine trends and significant data relationships by using predictive software to create regression models (linear, step-wise, hierarchical, logistic, etc.), structural equational modeling, correlation, ANOVA (e.g. sums of square), cluster analysis, time series analysis, key driver analysis, factor analysis, Chi-square, Cronbach alpha, and other advanced statistics.
  • Developing the implementation, methodology, instrument design, consulting, data analysis and overall ongoing project management of higher level external vendor assessments for internal customer.
  • Exploring, introducing, testing, and training on new research methodologies, systems, tools, technology, and information resources to collect data better, faster, and at a reduced cost. (e.g. labor, internal systems, and other internal resources used to collect data).
  • Research associate trends and industry standards to better understand how the organization’s culture compares to similar organizations, competitors, and current workplace trends (e.g. trends among age generations, associate turnover, job classes, etc).

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology, Marketing Research, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or other analytical discipline
  • 3 years of survey/research studying workplace behavior
  • At least four (4) years of experience analyzing data using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) or other statistical software (such as R, Minitab, SAS, StatPac)
  • Consulting skills and ability to influence leaders to include engaging and negotiating with Senior Leadership (Officers, Directors, and Tier 1 and 2 project sponsors)
  • Extensive working knowledge of analytical and statistical methods beyond basic descriptive statistics (such as regression, correlation, ANOVA, t-tests, structural equational modeling, cluster analysis, Cronbach alpha, factor analysis, etc.)
  • Extensive analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as, interpersonal skills
  • Proficient Project Management Skills
    • Coordinating and driving the task completion by other resources needed to complete project (I/S, Strategy Support, Print Shop, Store or Ind Ops management)
    • Ability to commit to and meet deadlines associated with conflicting deadlines
  • Working knowledge of different research data collection methods, surveying techniques and methodology (phone, mail, interviews, focus groups, internet, etc.)
  • Skilled in summarizing large amounts of information and writing concise research reports
  • Organizational and independent prioritization skills
  • Detail-oriented with an uncompromising desire for accuracy in reporting
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and receive a high level of delegation
  • High degree of professionalism, tact, diplomacy in dealing with management and executive level leaders
  • Proficient in analyzing empirical associate data and company data (e.g. turnover, associate perceptions on changes, anecdotal feedback, current training systems, RBU standards), and industry trends as part of the process in preparing reports and presentations
  • Some generalist HR knowledge (such as Safety, Benefits, attributes of turnover, on-boarding process, levels of training)
  • Intermediate skills in statistical software (SPSS)
  • Working knowledge of datasets (ideally in SPSS)
  • Basic skills using Excel
  • Basic skills using Word
  • Basic skills using PowerPoint
  • Basic skills using Access is preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Marketing Research, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or other analytical discipline
  • 5 years survey/research experience studying workplace behavior and analyzing data using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) or other statistical software (such as R, Minitab, SAS, StatPac)
  • SHRM – SCP, SPHR or other HR certification
  • Current or former experience as a Publix Associate

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
