Description
The purpose of this position is to schedule, coordinate, and oversee the installation of all equipment (e.g., determining the best course of action when items in the field differ from plans) and provide guidance to set-up contractors, on-site vendors, etc. to ensure safe, timely, high-quality delivery and installation of all fixtures and equipment in multiple simultaneous retail construction projects (e.g., new stores, remodels, special projects). This position will also coordinate activities to support various simultaneous paint and décor projects in existing stores to ensure projects are started and completed on schedule and executed according to plans and specifications.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Acting as the lead on-site Publix Construction representative for assigned new store and remodel construction projects to oversee the installation of equipment, millwork, and shelving, and to ensure they are installed correctly, on time, and according to Publix’s high-quality standards.
- As the lead on-site Publix Construction representative, overseeing the equipment, millwork, and shelving installation on special projects (paint & décor; Liquor stores), ensuring they are installed correctly, on time, and to high-quality standards.
- Responsible for determining what cabinetry and millwork is required by plans and specifications, as well as what additional cabinetry or fixtures may be needed for the most functional use of the retail space.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a construction-related course of study or equivalent combination of formal training/certification and professional work experience that demonstrates the prerequisite competence to perform the duties of this position.
- 3 years of experience in general retail setup and/or construction
- Valid Driver’s license
- Advanced knowledge of the various construction methods and materials related to commercial construction
- Advanced knowledge of construction drawings and installation manuals
- Advanced knowledge of retail construction trades including carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and electrical
- Knowledge of regional building codes and other regulatory agency requirements
- Knowledge of the standard building code and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Basic Microsoft Word & Excel skills
- Willingness to travel to stores throughout the retail division, including overnight stays as required.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends when required.

- Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related course of study or equivalent level of documented construction experience
- 5 years of experience in retail setup and/or general construction
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification (Preferred to obtain by 1 year in the position)
- Intermediate Microsoft Word skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Basic Microsoft PowerPoint skills
- Basic Microsoft Access skills

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
