Description
The purpose of this position is to manage the successful real estate operations of Publix leased stores (i.e., under development, operating, and closed stores) within the assigned territory throughout the duration of the lease. The real estate operations include property and asset management functions (such as landlord relations, maintenance, safety, shopping center budgets, legal matters, etc.) that align with Publix’s 30+ year strategy at the store-level.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintaining the conditions of physical store, shopping center, and associated properties, as well as ensuring the successful completion of property improvements.
- Supporting the enforcement of leases obligations with landlords to ensure Publix leased locations are meeting necessary and agreed upon standards to support the fiscal and physical performance of stores.
- Supporting the implementation of long-term management strategies (e.g., remodels/ improvements, special projects) to support new business initiatives for the Publix leased portfolios (e.g., Starlink, generators, cart containments, dock enclosures).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in real estate or business-related field or equivalent combination of formal training/certification and professional work experience that demonstrates the prerequisite competence to perform the duties of this position.
- 1 year Publix management experience or 3 years of real estate and/or property/asset management experience
- A valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of legal terms and practices, contracts, leases, and accounting principles (e.g., GAAP).
- Knowledge of legal documents (e.g., leases, letter agreements, exhibits, amendments, declarations), legal concepts, and negotiation tactics
- Knowledge of government processes – local, county and state (e.g. code ordinances, violations, eminent domain)
- Knowledge of A/R balances, income growth, operating expenses, prospective tenants, and net operating income

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in in business administration, real estate or related field or equivalent experience
- 5 years or more of real estate experience with a background in commercial property and/or asset management.

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
