Description
In Corporate Manufacturing, the Manufacturing Production Planners create production schedules, storage plans and product distribution plans for their assigned Publix manufacturing facilities. They do this to satisfy store and distribution center finished product demand. As part of the process of creating production schedules, the Planners order and manage inventory levels of manufacturing plant raw materials, packaging and operating supplies used for production.
- Analyze and manage inventories in divisional warehouses and manufacturing plants including forecasting future movement and sales through SAP
- Create production schedules of each product group and determine appropriate timeline for shipments, working with department managers to make necessary adjustments throughout the week to insure proper quantities are manufactured, shipped and warehoused
- Analyze, order and manage inventories of raw materials (packaging and ingredients)
- Work with Manufacturing Supply Purchasing and vendors to discuss problems, pricing, lead time, and changes as well as participate in Category Reviews
- Work with Publix Corporate Transportation Department and Distribution to coordinate multi-vendor transportation and warehousing of packaging and ingredients and
- Serve as a resource to Plant Management and other Publix departments regarding ordering, transportation, invoices, and finished product inventories.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- One year of Manufacturing experience, Production Planning experience, or equivalent experience through college course work
- Willing to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays and the ability to be on-call 24 hours per day/7 days per week
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of people
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to take initiative, complete tasks independently with little supervision
- Detail-oriented and maintain flexibility
- Ability to prioritize, analyze and interpret results
- Ability to work under strict deadline constraints
- Ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and simultaneously
- Good organizational, time management and project management skills
- Ability to retain/absorb information readily
- Working knowledge of computer software programs specifically Microsoft Outlook
- Ability to utilize various data sources to accurately forecast future usage and trends
- Ability to travel overnight or on extended trips, including by air

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in an analytical field or equivalent experience
- Three years of experience in Production Management, Logistics Planning or supporting Publix Mfg SAP Production Planning processes
- SAP experience in the area of forecasting, production scheduling, inventory management and procurement
- Knowledge of relevant manufacturing operations
- In-depth knowledge of the master data that drives forecasting, planning, production scheduling, shipping functionality and process in SAP
- Strong knowledge of Publix Manufacturing’s operational processes
- Knowledge of Corporate Transportation’s transportation guidelines for appointments and backhauls
- Knowledge of planning, inventory management, production scheduling, line balancing and Publix Manufacturing’s procurement and accounting policies and principles
- Strong knowledge of mathematics and statistical data analysis
- Knowledge of all plant Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Knowledge of the storage and inventory guidelines of distribution, and
- Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM from American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS).

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
