Position Description
As a Database Controller you will be responsible for compiling data and developing databases to meet operational needs and maintaining Microsoft (MS) Access database applications as well. This also includes the administration of all systems and databases for Retail Accounting as well as providing software related technical support and immediate problem resolution for issues related to operational databases.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in an Information Technology related field or equivalent analytical experience
- 4 years of experience with integrated systems and
- 4 years of experience performing advanced functions within MS Office applications and
- 4 years of experience with database development
- Advanced computer and electronics knowledge including experience with hardware, software, and computer systems and processes
- In depth advanced knowledge of MS Access database design techniques, tools, and principles including knowledge of SQL/pass-through queries, Visual Basic programming, development of complex formulas and expressions such as nested IIF statements and MID functions
- Strong written communication skills
- Oral communication skills
- Analytical skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to demonstrate creativity in problem solving
- Advanced computer skills and the ability to keep up to date with changing technologies
- Strong mathematic and critical analytical thinking ability using logic and reasoning

- Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule and work more than 40 hours per week as needed for projects such as year-end processing and other critical business needs which arise
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, Access, Excel and Word
- Intermediate knowledge of SQL Code
- Knowledge of the following:
- SAP
- SharePoint
- HOST
- Teradata
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Information Technology related field or its equivalent analytical experience
- 6 years of experience with integrated systems and
- 6 years of experience performing advanced functions within MS Office applications and
- 6 years of experience with database development
- Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) or Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)
- High level knowledge of I/S processes interacting with the department
- High level knowledge of Corporate Accounting department functions and processes
- General knowledge of regulations including but not limited to HIPAA, PCI, PII requirements as they relate to specific business processes within department
- General knowledge of SOX requirements as they relate to specific business processes within Retail Accounting department
- Advanced knowledge of:
- Mini-FETCH
- Fintech Recon system
- PAMS (Publix ATM Scheduling)
- PETS (Publix Electronic Transaction System)
- SACT (Store Accounting)
- PASSport
- Oasis (support and retail) and other time systems
- WIMS (Warehouse Management System)
- DIMS (DSD Management System)
- PIMS (Product Information Management System)
- ODBC (Open Data Base Connectivity)

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
