Consumer Insights Analysts (CIA) produce analysis and reporting which enable stakeholders to develop and refine strategies and tactics to meet customer needs, increase Publix customer satisfaction and loyalty, and maximize sales and profits. This includes providing key support on custom research studies (primary and some secondary) from conception through final presentation. The CIA’s work is overseen by a Consumer Insights Project Manager. The Consumer Insights Analysts report to the Manager of Consumer Insights.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Providing analytical and logistical project support on consumer insights research projects that are led by a Consumer Insights Project Manager (CIPM) in order to ensure the accomplishment of key milestones and delivery against project scope
- Assisting the Consumer Insights Project Managers/Senior PMs in the design and development of assigned consumer insights research projects from project scope development through presenting final results
- Providing key support to other associates on the Consumer Insights team for producing research reports, recommendation documents, position papers, presentations and other key deliverables
- Conducting ad hoc and post hoc (statistical) analyses on custom and/or tracking studies in order to fully leverage data sources and uncover key insights
- Ongoing management and maintenance of a proprietary online customer panel of Publix customers who have been invited to join a community with the intent of providing Publix with feedback on our products and services
- Monitoring secondary research sources and integrating research study findings as it pertains to the custom studies being conducted
- Dedicating time to Marketing innovation and quality improvement
- Managing special Marketing related assignments, which can include but is not limited to: project management, executing reporting and presenting results to executive leadership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Sociology, Mathematics, Statistics, Anthropology, Psychology, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of statistics, quantitative methods, and data analysis (including descriptive, multivariate, and nonparametric statistics)
- Knowledge of statistical software (SPSS, MiniTab, SAS, or R) and statistical functions in Microsoft Office program (Excel)
- Quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills
- Analytical and critical thinking skills
- Project management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and presentation skills
- Professionalism/strong interpersonal skills
- Teamwork and collaboration skills
- Willingness to act with professionalism, poise, and discipline when approach, methodology or chosen data visualization method is challenged by the CIPM or other Consumer Insights associates
- Flexibility and adaptability, willingness to respond to quickly changing priorities on short notice
- Occasional travel (approximately 4-6 times/year) to observe/conduct primary research or for competitive and/or Publix store visits
- Ability to work a variable work schedule as needed including nights, holidays, weekends, and extended hours to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Business, Marketing Research, Economics, Sociology, Mathematics, Statistics, Anthropology, or Psychology
- One (1) or more years of experience working in primary consumer research project management or analysis/reporting
- Internship in consumer research
- Knowledge of various research methodologies (qualitative, quantitative, observational, etc.), their relative strengths and weaknesses, and what type of research objectives they are appropriate for investigating
- Knowledge of the primary research process
- Knowledge of sampling theory
- Knowledge of questionnaire design and question wording
- Knowledge of project management disciplines
- Knowledge of the secondary research process and methods
- Knowledge of business and technical writing, reporting, and data summarizations
- Knowledge of data sources available to the Consumer Insights and Marketing Analytics teams for analyses and reporting (past primary data, Lexis-Nexis, Scarborough data, scan data, demographics data, Market Track, etc.)
- Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Processes

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
