Description
The purpose of this position is to develop and manage an employee benefits data analytics strategy. This includes developing and implementing complex dashboards and reporting of large volumes of data from our data warehouse while ensuring data accuracy, resolving anomalies and collaborating with stakeholders and vendors to identify actionable insights that support innovative benefits programs, and associate well-being. This position also supports strategic initiatives by guiding design, proof of concept, and pilot efforts; applies expertise in data modeling, preparation, and visualization, along with advanced on-premises and cloud technologies to drive effective strategic and operational decisions.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing an employee benefits data analytics strategy to support the research, development, and implementation of strategic, cross-functional and benefits-critical initiatives and on-going plan and program administration
- Supporting the ongoing data needs of population health management initiatives and of employee benefits plans and programs at Publix
- Supporting the benefits business area with operational and analytic level performance data reporting
- Collaborating with Business Analysis and Reporting (BAR)
- Mentoring and training in the usage and support of Benefits data strategy and its supporting tools
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Health or Healthcare Informatics, MIS, Computer Science or a technical related field or equivalent combination of formal training/certification and 5 years professional work experience that demonstrates the prerequisite competence to perform the duties of this position
- 3 years of responsibility in the health data analytics field or experience working with both analytic and transactional operational data platforms
- Knowledge of how to utilize various database query tools, as well as multiple database relational database management system (RDBMS) platforms to report and extract data for use
- Knowledge of data modeling fundamentals, including the use of fact and dimension tables and the differences between star and snowflake schemas. Proficiency in joining data from disparate sources and in creating and retrieving large datasets, as well as experience with data marts and analytical data for reporting and visualization purposes
- Knowledge of how to accurately gather requirements from business users for differing data requests
- Knowledge of how to analyze business intelligence data and designing reports based on this analysis

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Analytics, MIS or Information Technology
- Experience in health care, employee benefits or benefits consulting for a company similar in size to Publix or the retail industry.
- Experience working with large quantities of claims data and experience with Merative Health Insights, Health Data Management System (HDMS), or a similar population health data warehouse.
- IBM Data Warehouse Engineer Professional Certificate
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification or Group Benefits Associate (GBA)
- Knowledge of systems used by key third party vendors, including Merative, Blue Cross Blue Shield and OptumRx

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
