Meet Kelly.

district manager, Kelly

As district manager, Kelly truly embodies Publix’s values of service, leadership, and compassion. Beginning in 1994, Kelly’s journey is a testament to hard work and the power of believing in others. “I started with Publix as a cashier in high school. Throughout my career, I’ve had amazing mentors and leaders who believed in me, challenged me, and gave me the tools to grow. That’s something I now strive to do for my own associates.”

As district manager, Kelly oversees multiple stores by guiding her management teams to drive performance, maintain excellence, and develop the next generation of Publix leaders. “The purpose of my role is to lead the management team in my district by supporting the growth and development of managers and associates, assessing operational excellence, and creating sales and profits. Ultimately, my goal is to ensure a premier shopping environment for both customers and associates.”

No two days look alike in Kelly’s world. “A typical day might include store visits, evaluating standards, and collaborating with teams to enhance service and operations. The variety keeps me engaged—it’s never repetitive.” But at the heart of every day is one constant: people. “What I love most about my job has always been the people—our associates and customers. Seeing associates grow in confidence and advance in their careers is one of the greatest rewards. Our associates are the secret sauce!”

Her leadership philosophy is deeply rooted in faith and service. “My faith is the foundation of how I live and lead. I believe that leadership is about humility, listening more, speaking less, and ensuring that my actions model grace. I want every associate to know that I value them and that I’m here to help them achieve their best—both personally and professionally.”

Kelly also credits her father as a lifelong inspiration. “My dad worked tirelessly to provide for our family. He taught me what integrity looks like—how people remember not just what you do, but how you make them feel.” That same lesson shines through in her leadership as she strives to “listen to understand, lead with compassion, and treat others with grace, dignity, and respect.”

Outside of work, Kelly loves spending time with her daughter exploring the arts. “We both enjoy musicals and plays. The arts have been transformative for my daughter—they’ve taught her communication, confidence, and resilience. I love watching how it helps her grow.”

Throughout her career, Kelly has benefited from strong female mentorship and now pays that forward through mentorship programs like Mentor/Protégé and Leaders Leading Leaders. “Mentoring has been essential to my growth. It’s about building relationships, serving others, and ensuring Publix continues to thrive for future generations.”

Reflecting on her 31-year journey, Kelly hopes her legacy mirrors that of Publix’s founder, George W. Jenkins. “I want to be remembered as a leader who made a positive difference in the lives of others. As Mr. George said, ‘Publix will be a little better or not quite as good because of you.’ I hope that through humble leadership and compassion, I leave both people—and Publix—a little better.” Kelly’s story reminds us that great leadership isn’t about authority—it’s about service, grace, and believing in others.
