Introducing yourself to the manager.

Publix associates

Publix receives thousands of applications each day! That’s why standing out after submitting your application is important! At Publix, our associates go the extra mile to exceed expectations. A great way to do this is by stopping by the store to introduce yourself to management! This could significantly increase your chances of landing an interview! We know it sounds intimidating, but don’t worry! We have 5 tips to help!

1. Prepare.

Before stopping in to meet the manager, do your research. Preparation is key! It’s important to go in with confidence, and knowing what to expect can help with that. We suggest looking up the store manager before stopping in, this way, you know who you are looking for. If you cannot find this information online, you can ask another associate or visit the customer service desk, where the store manager’s information is displayed. This will ensure there is no confusion once you arrive to introduce yourself.

2. Be Professional.

At Publix, we are known for providing premier customer service. With this, we take pride in who we hire. Upon meeting the manager for the first time, it is important to dress up and look nice to make a good first impression. You never know, you could be interviewed on the spot! You don’t have to go all out, but dressing up more than you normally do could do the trick.

3. Inquire.

In addition to introducing yourself, it is important to show interest in the manager and company. Ask about open positions as well as what they look for in associates. This is your chance to gain knowledge into the work environment. Not only will this leave a positive impression, but it will demonstrate your interest in Publix. These insights may be the deciding factor in landing an interview.

4. Stand out.

Since the store receives a ton of applications, it is important to stand out among the other candidates. It would be beneficial to share a little about yourself, your experience, and the value you would provide to the team. Sharing one or two of your strengths is a great place to start.

5. Acknowledge.

Store managers are very busy and have a lot to do throughout the day. It is important to keep your interaction with them short and sweet so they can get back to work. Be sure to thank them for their time and let them know you look forward to hearing from them soon.
