Water Programs Due Diligence Specialist position is to ensure effective execution of strategic and regulatory stormwater programs focused on environmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to Environmental Protection. To accomplish this, the Environmental Specialist will work independently under the direction of management and senior management to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance by which the integrity of Publix will be evaluated by our customers, peers, and regulatory agencies.
What you’ll do:
- Executing the stormwater compliance program effectively.
- Ensuring stormwater/wastewater systems meet compliance standards through corrective action projects.
- Managing new permits, renewals, and permit modifications to ensure Publix remains in compliance with all stormwater/wastewater regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field (e.g., chemistry, biology, environmental science) or equivalent combination of formal training/certification and professional work experience that demonstrates the prerequisite competence to perform the duties of this position
- One year of experience managing projects and/or programs related to environmental projects and programs
- Knowledge of environmental compliance concepts
- Knowledge of environmental compliance related to stormwater compliance
- Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and confidence in making timely, effective decisions.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
- Must be at least 20 years old with a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience managing projects and/or programs related to environmental projects and programs
- Certified Stormwater Operator 1
- Certified Stormwater Operator 2
- Certified Stormwater Erosion & Sedimentation Control Inspector
- Knowledge of permitting processes related to stormwater systems
- Knowledge of Publix stormwater systems and how they function.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to read and understand drainage plans
- Ability to read and understand regulatory permits and rules

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
