Description
The primary roles of the Water/Wastewater Operator are to monitor the quality and the use of potable water, collect water samples and maintain data and logs to support potable and wastewater regulatory requirements, and maintain water treatment, sampling, pumping and flow measurement equipment.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Troubleshoot equipment and/or process malfunctions
- Coordinate repair and small improvement projects
- Assist other departments concerning water quality and regulatory compliance
- Maintain records for water systems
- Must be able to respond to emergency call outs to support the operation of water systems
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have an excellent attendance and punctuality record
- Must show initiative and pride in work
- Have the ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
- Must be able to work outdoors year round
- Must be able to evaluate and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and operation problems common to the water/ wastewater systems
- Must be able to benefit from maintenance/operational training classes
- Must be able to meet requirements for State of Florida Class C Water Operator License within two years of employment start date
- Good human relation skills (the ability to work well with others and be a team player).

Preferred Qualifications
- Possess State of Florida Class C Water Operator License
- Experience in maintaining potable water and wastewater treatment, pumping, and measurement equipment
- Certified in back flow preventer inspection
- Experienced in Electrical and PLC programing and troubleshooting

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
