Description
As an extension of the CEO’s office, the Strategy Support department is responsible for helping Publix leadership turn strategic priorities into well-executed outcomes that improve performance and enable long-term growth. The team brings clarity to priorities, aligns leaders and teams, and drives disciplined execution-delivering speed and impact on the initiatives that matter most.
As a Strategy Project Manager, you lead the execution of business-critical, cross-functional project-bringing structure, momentum, and accountability to complex work. You partner with leaders across various business areas to lead multiple cross-functional projects, translating goals into clear scopes, disciplined plans, and coordinated execution.
In Publix’s corporate offices, we value in-person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. Many of Publix’s corporate offices offer work from home up to one day a week. Each business area implements their policy differently and should be discussed during interviews.
What you’ll do:
- Lead cross-functional teams through the full project lifecycle
- Establish trust-based relationships and respectfully challenge assumptions
- Apply structured problem-solving and project management methods
- Maintain clear plans, timelines, and reporting for transparency
- Manage scope, risks, and dependencies to ensure delivery
- Communicate progress, risks, and decisions clearly to stakeholders
- Prepare scopes, decision documents, and executive-ready materials
- Support change management and communication to enable adoption
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in business, psychology, accounting, engineering, or related analytical discipline, or a combination of equivalent work, formal training, or certification experience
- At least four years of work experience in a corporate environment with at least two years of that experience managing projects (e.g., at the individual or group level)
- Excellent verbal and written communications as well as the ability to negotiate and persuade
- Demonstrated expertise in stakeholder mapping, navigating organizational dynamics, and applying collaborative engagement approaches to build trust and alignment
- Strong command of learning agility principles, including the ability to rapidly assimilate complex information, conduct independent research, form and test hypotheses, and thoughtfully consider opposing viewpoints
- Proven critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills, with experience synthesizing complex inputs into clear, actionable recommendations
- Understanding of research methodologies, data synthesis, and evidence-based problem-solving techniques to inform project planning and operational improvements
- Comprehensive knowledge of organizational and project management principles, including structured planning, sequencing of short‑ and mid‑term projects, and coordination of multiple priorities across concurrent projects
- Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Project
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of PowerBI reporting
- Willingness to travel occasionally with overnight stays, work a variable work schedule, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require
- Must be at least 20 years old willing to operate a vehicle and have driving record verified
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in business, engineering, accounting, psychology or related analytical discipline
- Five or more years of work experience in a corporate environment with at least three years of that experience directly working in project management
- Project management certification such as CAPM, PMP, PgMP, or Six Sigma
- In-depth knowledge of organizational development principles and proven change management methodologies for leading multi-year, cross-functional transformation initiatives
- Comprehensive understanding of the grocery and retail industry, including emerging trends, regulatory landscape, competitor strategies, and market disruptors
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Project
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of MS Power Apps and Power Automate
- Knowledge of generative AI tools to drive innovation or process improvement

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
