Primary Responsibilities
The Sr. Payroll Processing Specialist is responsible for supporting the technical aspects of the Payroll department with system knowledge, federal regulatory knowledge, individual state requirements, payroll knowledge, repayment knowledge, research and problem resolution. This is accomplished through processing payroll for each payroll cycle and executing technical payroll balancing responsibilities in regard to wage types, payroll earnings, taxes, deductions, payroll adjustments and assisting other business areas with the appropriate balancing techniques.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a business related field or equivalent in experience
- 4 years of experience in an analytical position
- Technical knowledge of SAP HR and/or Finance
- In depth knowledge of payroll including Paid Time Off (PTO), overpayment, multiple pay cycle(s), etc.
- Knowledge of accounting principles
- Exceptional analytical/problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to constant change
- Ability to work under deadlines
- Handle a high volume of work accurately and timely
- Professionally be able to handle extremely confidential and sensitive information
- Ability to work independently as well as the ability to work well with others
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of maturity and tact
- Proficient knowledge of MS Word, Access, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent attendance and punctuality record

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Finance, Accounting or Business Management
- 6 years of analytical experience
- Advanced experience with MS Office applications (ability to design and create queries and reports)

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
