Publix Technology Engineering is seeking a Senior Engineer 2 to join our Store Systems Engineering Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Defining, developing, maintaining, and advising on the effective use of Publix technology architecture in our retail stores
  • Software and hardware architecture design, installation, configuration, integration, and support
  • Core infrastructure system management activities
  • Problem determination and resolution
  • Project team participation
  • New technology awareness, research, and system integration with a focus on system security
  • Implementing and maintaining various engineering systems, including POS and USCAN systems, ATMs, Department Scales, Auto Wrappers, and Special Hardware Projects

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in computer science or an analytical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience supporting Windows systems and related infrastructure software and hardware in a medium to large environment
  • Experience with multiple hardware vendor platforms
  • In-depth experience implementing, migrating, managing, and administering Windows 10 and Windows 11 desktop operating systems in a large corporate environment
  • Experience with Linux operating systems
  • Experience in creating and managing group policy objects

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience designing, planning, implementing, and supporting large releases
  • Experience securing and hardening diverse technologies, platforms, and applications
  • Expertise with a broad range of server-based technologies including Active Directory and Microsoft SCCM
  • In-depth knowledge of multiple hardware vendor platforms (POS terminals, Self-Checkout, ATMs, Department Scales, Peripherals, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of Secure Configuration Management (SCM) methodologies and best practices
  • Strong experience working in ServiceNow Incident Management, working incidents to completion and maintaining highly effective knowledge articles
  • Experience with automating application installation and configuration of drivers and vendor provided software needed for hardware functionality
  • In-depth understanding of System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies
  • Ability to anticipate and identify issues that conflict with security and compliance requirements
  • Experience leading projects from requirements through implementation
  • Experience working in a process-structured environment which includes Change Management, Incident/Problem Management, and Disaster Recovery Preparedness
  • Experience with compliance and regulatory security requirements (SOX, PCI, HIPAA)
  • Solid understanding of the functional and operational practices necessary to excel in a highly available, highly secure, and highly regulated environment to meet business and compliance requirements

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
