The SAN and Backup Engineering team is responsible for managing and supporting high availability and performance of all enterprise backups and restores, disk storage arrays, and SAN switches. Engineers on the team are responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and maintaining enterprise storage and backup platform technologies from Rubrik, Commvault, Hitachi, and Brocade. The team also supports other infrastructure, application delivery, security, architecture, and business continuity teams. The team participates in root cause analysis exercises, identifies areas of improvement, and delivers tasks on project-based efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Work with operations, security, database, and application teams to:
  • Identify and determine backup/restore requirements.
  • Regularly test recovery processes
• Perform storage array migrations.
• Fulfill storage requests.
• Perform SAN and backup level 2 incident support.
• Participate in the on-call rotation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Math or related field, or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience designing and managing enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• 2+ years of experience managing large enterprise storage infrastructure supporting UNIX, Windows, and Mainframe environments (including experience with storage-based replication)
• 2+ years of experience in enterprise environments using Commvault or Rubrik backup products.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience designing and managing enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• 3+ years of experience managing large enterprise storage infrastructure supporting UNIX, Windows, and Mainframe environments (including experience with storage-based replication)
• Experience in the following areas:
  • Storage management toolsets for Hitachi-Vantara or Pure storage products, as well as with Brocade switches
  • Backup tools and VMware ESX/VCF on private and public cloud environments
  • SAN and VMware ESX/VCF on private cloud environments
  • Backup tool interfaces, storage interfaces, and automation tools
  • Planning the storage, backup, and security strategy for business continuity
  • Scripting with Python, or similar technology
  • Vulnerability management tools and remediation activities
  • Working in a process structured environment (Change Management, Technical Design Reviews, Security Reviews, etc.)
  • Working on large projects from requirements through implementation

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
