Join the Publix Technology Online Payments Team as a Senior Backend Engineer where you will focus on designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge payment solutions. In this role, you will work closely with a team of talented engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and efficient payment systems. While your primary focus will be on hands-on development, there will also be opportunities to lead projects on a smaller scale. You will contribute significantly to shaping the future of online payments at Publix by leveraging your expertise in software engineering and problem-solving. Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of secure and scalable online payment solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, designers, and engineers, to define project requirements and deliverables.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain coding standards and best practices.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges and bottlenecks to ensure the timely delivery of projects.
• Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies, incorporating them into the development process as appropriate.
• Implement security measures to protect sensitive payment information and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Assist in project planning and estimation, offering technical insights and feasibility assessments.
• Take on leadership opportunities within projects, guiding junior engineers and contributing to team development.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related analytical field or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• 4+ years of experience working in C# and .NET technologies.
• 3+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining customer-facing REST APIs
• Solid understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure.
• Experience with microservices and event-driven style architecture.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as Apache Cassandra
• Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka.
• Experience with orchestration systems such as Kubernetes, OpenShift
• Knowledge of security best practices in software development
• Experience with payment processing systems.
• Prior exposure to a regulated environment, including dealing with PII and PCI data

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
