Description

The purpose of this position is to lead and manage industrial construction projects throughout manufacturing, distribution, operations buildings, and review annual maintenance budgets. The role focuses on ensuring project quality, budget alignment, and effective coordination with internal departments and external partners across Publix facilities in Atlanta, Boynton, Deerfield, Greensboro, Jacksonville, Lakeland, McCalla, Miami, Orlando, and Sarasota.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring completion and quality work across all industrial construction projects.
  • Coordinating meetings with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal Publix departments to maintain project timelines.
  • Communicating with engineers to resolve design issues and ensure alignment with project specifications.
  • Overseeing the annual building maintenance budget for each facility and monitoring capital budget purchases.
  • Assigning and supervising special projects and miscellaneous maintenance projects within the industrial construction team.
  • Evaluating and selecting new contractors or vendors to improve product quality and reduce costs.
  • Providing guidance and direction to industrial construction team members to support their professional development and resolve field-related challenges.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years industrial and commercial construction experience
  • Knowledge of Industrial Construction including Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Refrigeration, Electrical, and Roofing Systems
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of regional building codes and other regulatory agency requirements
  • Knowledge of warehousing, distribution and manufacturing
  • Ability to be detailed oriented
  • Ability to evaluate costs and estimates
  • Stress tolerance and adaptability skills
  • Ability to be comfortable in addressing large groups
  • Willingness to climb and work in high places

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 10 years’ industrial and commercial construction experience
  • 10 years’ experience in Industrial construction as a project manager, superintendent or development manager.
  • Continuing Education (CILB) Construction Industry Licensing Board
  • General Contractors or Building Contractors License
  • Certificates required for ADA (American Disability Act), Hazwoper (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response). These are required and supplied by Publix. (Incumbent will obtain the ADA and Hazwoper once hired)

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
