As a Sales Tax Analyst, you will be responsible for ensure Publix accurately reports, pays and accounts for sales tax collected from our customers and use tax due on taxable purchases. In addition, the sales tax analyst is responsible for assisting the sales tax supervisor when needed on special projects, ad hoc reporting and quarterly analysis.
Responsibilities of include:

• Responsible for auditing and tax coding expense payable invoices for proper taxation
• Responsible for preparing sales and use tax returns for Publix subsidiaries
• Responsible for the accounting and analysis of sales and use taxes
• Responsible for miscellaneous sales tax projects assigned by the Sales Tax Manager or Sales Tax Supervisor

In Publix’s corporate offices, we value in-person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. Many of Publix’s corporate offices offer work from home up to two days a week. Each business area implements their policy differently and should be discussed during interviews.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-year experience in Expense Payables at Publix or equivalent experience externally
• Knowledge of Expense Payables invoice processing.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and detailed oriented
• Ability to plan and organize projects to meet deadlines
• Attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness
• Problem-solving and research skills
• Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of relevant AA degree
• 2 years’ experience processing payments for Publix or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of state sales tax rules and regulations for all states Publix operates.
• Knowledge of sales and use tax reporting requirements.
• Intermediate knowledge of OneSource Sales & Use Tax Filings System
• Knowledge CCH Tax Research Library
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Year End Bonus

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
