Description

Are you a college student in Central Florida looking for a year-round Industrial Engineering internship? Would you like to gain valuable hands-on experience and exposure to IE tools and techniques? Do you want to work on challenging projects and learn more about the Publix organization? Do you want to network with professionals to develop skills beyond what you can learn in a classroom? If yes, then this internship at Publix may be the perfect fit for you. The Student Industrial Engineer program is a year-round internship based in our corporate office in Central Florida. Our goal is to provide the Student Industrial Engineer as much exposure to the day-to-day work of a full-time Industrial Engineer as possible, so the student works directly with Publix IEs to assist them with Retail projects, including:

• Process improvement and standardization,
• Time and motion studies,
• Capacity planning,
• Analytical decision support, andr
• Design of experiments.

Required Qualifications

• Junior, Senior or graduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Research or closely related discipline,
• Ability to work at least 20 hours per week,
• Ability to work independently,
• Valid driver’s license and reliable form of transportation,
• Working knowledge of Excel (knowledge of Access, Outlook, and Word is a plus),
• Desire and ability to pick up computer skills,
• Ability to work well with others, and
• A desire to learn and grow.

Year End Bonus

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November.
The bonus for this position is 8 hours of pay when a new associate joins Publix prior to July 1.
There is no bonus in the first year for associates hired after July 1. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to 8 hours’ pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check.
