Description

Publix Super Markets is looking for a Real Estate Paralegal to join the legal team in Lakeland, Florida. This is an office-based position located at Publix’s corporate office in Lakeland, Florida. The primary purpose of this position is to provide legal support to the Real Estate and Facilities Departments with respect to day-to-day operations and new store growth, including tenant leases, store lease waivers, and other real estate documents.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting real estate attorneys and paralegals in Publix’s Legal Department and real estate associates in Publix’s Real Estate Department
• Drafting and negotiating leases, agreements, contracts, closing documents and other documents needed for real estate transactions
• Maintaining and tracking real estate documents

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or its equivalent
• One (1) year of professional experience with real estate contract documents
• Ability to type 40-50 words per minutes
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal format
• Problem-solving skills
• Detail oriented
• Interpersonal skills
• Ability to draft and revise documents using approved language
• Ability to deal with highly confidential information
• Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule as work needs shift, including nights/weekends/holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in any field
• 3 years’ experience as a paralegal outside or within Publix, with emphasis on real estate contract documents or 3 years of comparable experience
• Basic skill level in LawTrac
• Knowledge of Publix’s real estate documents
• Knowledge of Publix facilities policies and forms
• Knowledge of real estate and real estate law and title and survey matters
• Knowledge of title instruments and surveys and how to review them and determine impact to Publix
• Knowledge of license acquisition process in Publix’s operating footprint, knowledge of licensure applications for Publix’s different license types
• Knowledge of Publix’s construction lien management program
• Knowledge of real estate and construction law
• Knowledge of Publix lease forms and ability to prepare legal documents based on approved terms
• Paralegal Certification

Year End Bonus

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
