The Publix Technology Services (PTS) Support Technician implementation position will provide IT technical support for the Lakeland North area to primarily include installation of IT hardware in Publix retail stores. Our Implementation teams work a variable shift, based on demands of current projects or support schedule. Shifts will include overnight, evening, early morning, and/or daytime work, depending on the task. Occasional Sunday night work may be required. The exact schedule will be determined by the managing supervisor based upon the needs of the overall team.

Your Impact

• Installation of desktop computers, servers, laser and thermal printers, point of sale systems, barcode scanners, weighing devices, and networking systems.

• Connecting and testing network cables, wireless devices, and other peripherals.

• Troubleshooting and resolving installation or connectivity issues.

• Coordinating with other IT staff or vendors as needed for complex installations.

• Traveling between assigned Publix stores to perform on-site work.

• Provide support in other geographic areas when required.
• Provide support of implementation projects by working a varied schedule, including some overnight shifts when required

• Travel out of town to install New Stores.

• Maintaining accurate van inventory to ensure all necessary parts are available for onsite repairs

Required Qualifications

• Candidate must live in the Lakeland, FL, or surrounding area, or must be willing to relocate there upon acceptance of the position
• Associate degree in information technology or equivalent experience
• 1+ year of PC/Technical support experience
• Flexibility to work an overnight schedule, occasionally for extended periods
• Must be at least 20 years of age
• Must have a valid driver license and maintain an excellent driving record
• Basic understanding of IT hardware and industry standards
• Basic understanding of Windows Operating Systems
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Cable management and troubleshooting skills
• Computer and electronic equipment installation skills
• Ability to lift 75 lbs.
• Ability to climb and work on a ladder
• Ability to crouch, kneel and work in confined areas for extended periods
• Ability to use hand and power tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in the field of electronics or Computer Science, such as Cisco Certification, A+ Certification, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, HP Certification, or Lexmark Certification
• 3+ years of PC/Technical support experience
• Basic understanding of Active Directory
• Experience using problem reporting and ticketing systems
• Understanding of the Publix retail environment

Year End Bonus

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check.
