Join the Publix Technology Digital Payments Team as a Lead Backend Software Engineer where you will be responsible for driving the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge payment solutions. In this role, you will lead a team of talented engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and efficient payment systems. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of online payments at Publix by leveraging your expertise in software engineering, problem-solving, and leadership. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of secure and scalable online payment solutions
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment while working with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, designers, and engineers, to define project requirements and deliverables
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to maintain coding standards and best practices
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges and bottlenecks, ensuring the timely delivery of projects
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies, incorporating them into the development process as appropriate
  • Implement and enforce security measures to protect sensitive payment information and ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Participate in project planning and estimation, offering technical insights and feasibility assessments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related analytical field or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience
  • 6+ years of experience working in C# and .NET technologies
  • 6+ years of experience in providing technical leadership and guidance to software development teams
  • 4+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining customer-facing REST APIs
  • Solid understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure
  • Experience with distributed systems
  • Experience with microservices and event-driven style architecture
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as Apache Cassandra
  • Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka
  • Experience with orchestration systems such as Kubernetes, OpenShift
  • Knowledge of security best practices in software development
  • Experience with payment processing systems
  • Prior exposure to a regulated environment, including dealing with PII and PCI data
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
