Since its launch in 2007, the Publix Summer Internship Program prepares a cohort of young professionals for a smorgasbord of opportunities in the workplace. This is achieved through relationship building, development of self-confidence, and insight into industry knowledge. 

The 2026 Summer program dates are May 18th – July 24th at our company facilities in Lakeland, FL. Over these 10 weeks, interns will work 40 hours a week participating in impactful departmental projects that connect classroom learning to real-world corporate experience. Highlights include:

Position Overview
The Asset Protection Data & Systems Intern will help the team leverage data and technology that prevents loss and improve operations that help protect Publix and our customers. They assist with collecting and analyzing data from different sources and use tools like PowerApps and Power BI to create immersive reporting for leadership. The intern supports system administration tasks, helps develop and test new tools, and provides training materials for team members. They also work on projects with other departments, such as BAR, to improve processes and technology. In addition, the intern helps with analytics for investigations related to inventory and retail safety to reduce shrink and protect company assets.

What you’ll do

• Assist in converting outdated assessment platforms into modern PowerApps solutions, including designing and developing the app’s interface and structure.
• Collaborate with safety leadership and field associates to test the application, gather feedback, and apply improvements to enhance usability and functionality.

Required Qualifications

• Must be an actively enrolled student not graduating prior to the start of the Summer Internship Program in May; or
  • If graduating from a bachelor’s degree program prior to the start of the internship, starting a graduate degree program in the upcoming summer or fall semester; or
  • If graduating from a master’s degree program prior to the start of the internship, starting a graduate degree program in the upcoming summer or fall semester
• Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in business, criminology, technology or related field and be a current sophomore or above (rising junior or above as of the program start in Summer 2026) or a graduate student
• Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to review and analyze trends within a data set
• High level of maturity, discretion, tact and judgment, and the ability to deal with confidential information
• Ability to multitask
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• Basic knowledge of Office365 products like SharePoint, Power BI, and PowerApps
• Basic querying and coding skills
