Join the Publix Technology Team as an Intermediate Software Engineer on our Pharmacy Core Retail Systems team where you will be part of a fast-paced team leveraging modern technologies to support Pharmacy Retail Operations. You will be responsible for playing a key role in implementing new and complex systems, analyzing production problems, and building tools to automate support processes. The most suitable hire for this position will be a technical candidate with strong analytical, planning, problem solving, and mentoring skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with management, peers, technology vendors, and business partners. In addition, the position will participate in 24×7 rotational on-call support.

Your Impact 

  • Design and develop solutions supporting retail pharmacy business objectives
  • Build and maintain backend batch jobs using Java Spring Batch
  • Develop and support Kafka brokers and RESTful APIs
  • Contribute to front-end development using Angular
  • Develop applications using Java in Unix environments (Solaris/RHEL)
  • Ensure code aligns with architecture and security standards
  • Troubleshoot complex applications and perform root-cause analysis
  • Participate in a 24×7 production support rotation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related analytical field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting complex applications in an enterprise environment
  • 3+ years of experience in analyzing complex business problems or processes and translating business requirements into technology solutions considering performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, scalability, and total cost of ownership
  • 2+ years of experience with Java object-oriented programming
  • 2+ years of experience with Unix (Solaris or RHEL) shell
  • 2+ years of experience with Oracle or other SQL databases including database design and authoring complex queries

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a development leadership or mentorship role
  • 5+ years of experience in Spring Batch
  • 5+ years of experience with Spring Boot
  • 5+ years of experience with Angular
  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing versioned RESTful APIs

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
