As an Intermediate Software Engineer supporting the IDM (Item Data Management) team, you will be responsible for building the web application, along with Item Data Management services and solutions that supports capturing item data from various sources and prepare that data to displayed on Publix.com.

Location: Hybrid (Lakeland, FL): To support our hybrid work model, candidates must reside, or be willing to relocate, within a commutable distance of Lakeland, FL.

Your Impact:

• Develop and maintain applications, APIs, and user interfaces using C#, Blazor, Python, SQL, and cloud-native technologies.
• Drive continuous improvements to item data management processes to enhance data quality, strengthen data integrity, and streamline business operations.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain scalable data pipelines, integration solutions, and data platforms using Databricks, PySpark, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, and other Azure cloud services.
• Utilize AI-powered development tools such as Databricks Genie, GitHub Copilot, and Microsoft Copilot to improve productivity, accelerate development, and enhance data engineering workflows.
• Build automation solutions using Python, Databricks Workflows, Azure DevOps pipelines, and batch-processing technologies to reduce manual effort and increase operational efficiency.
• Support application deployments and releases through Azure DevOps pipelines, source code repositories, and CI/CD best practices.
• Monitor application performance, data pipelines, cloud resources, and overall system health while partnering with teammates to improve reliability, scalability, efficiency, and performance.
• Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call support schedule to ensure system availability, data reliability, and business continuity in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in data engineering, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and software development, and contribute innovative ideas for process and platform improvements.
• Contribute to the design and development of scalable Item Data Management solutions, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with enterprise data governance standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related analytical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience developing and supporting web applications with C# and modern .NET technologies (.NET 8, 9, or 10).
• 2+ years of experience working with SQL Server, including writing, optimizing, validating, and troubleshooting queries.
• 1+ year of experience with a modern front-end framework such as Blazor.
• 1+ year of experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Databricks Genie, or similar technologies to improve productivity and solution delivery.
• Experience using Databricks to build scalable data pipelines that ingest, cleanse, transform, and deliver business-ready datasets from multiple data sources.
• Experience with PySpark, Python, and Data Lake technologies (Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 or similar) to support large-scale data processing and transformation.
• Strong experience developing and testing APIs using Swagger, Postman, Bruno, and web-based front-end applications.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure SQL Database, App Services, Storage Accounts, and Key Vault.
• Experience troubleshooting application issues using browser developer tools, Azure Application Insights, Log Analytics, Dynatrace, and/or Splunk.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, source control repositories, branching strategies, and deployment pipelines.
• Experience working within Agile methodologies, the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and distributed application environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure networking technologies, including Virtual Networks (VNets), Subnets, Azure Firewall, Front Door, Traffic Manager, Application Gateway, and Azure API Management.
• Experience with Event Hub, Event Grid, Azure Functions, Azure App Services, and microservices-based architectures.
• Experience applying advanced technology concepts related to security, scalability, availability, and system performance.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery teams.

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
