As an Industrial Projects Construction Supervisor, you’ll join a team that plays an important role in supporting the facilities behind Publix’s manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, and support operations. This opportunity offers a diverse mix of industrial construction projects, including building maintenance, special and capital expenditure projects, and facility repairs, giving you the chance to make a visible impact across our growing operations. Responsibilities include:

  • Supervising construction related activities related to industrial construction projects
  • Providing input for the Annual Building Maintenance Budget
  • Supervising Special Projects and Capital Expenditure Projects as requested by warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, and support facilities involving Industrial Construction
  • Overseeing miscellaneous maintenance and repairs of the following: buildings, parking lots, grounds, docks, roofing, doors, elevators, floors, lighting, CSX Railroad, water towers (potable and fire), refrigeration and utility systems (electrical, plumbing, gas, utilities, etc.)
  • Selecting new contractors or vendors while continually evaluating opportunities to improve quality, value, and cost-effectiveness
  • Completing other various tasks such as creating budgets for projects, maintaining project records and monitoring key performance indicators

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • Must be at least 20 years of age with a valid driver’s license to operate a company owned vehicle
  • At least three years of industrial and commercial construction experience
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic knowledge of SAP
  • Must be willing to obtain certificates required for ADA (American Disability Act), Hazwoper (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response). These are supplied by Publix.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Construction including Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Refrigeration, Electrical, and Roofing Systems
  • Knowledge of regional building codes and other regulatory agency requirements
  • Availability to work nights, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended hours, and be on call 24/7 as business needs require
  • Availability to travel and work overnight, as business needs require

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 10 years’ industrial and commercial construction experience
  • Hazwoper (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) certification
  • General Contractors or Building Contractors license
  • Continuing education with the CILB (Construction Industry Licensing Board)

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
