Publix Manufacturing includes Bakery (2), Dairy (3), Deli (1), Fresh Kitchen (3), and Produce Snacks (1) facilities, located in Atlanta, Lakeland, Deerfield Beach, and Orlando. Your focus will be on the Atlanta Fresh Kitchen, Dairy, and Bakery.
Based at our manufacturing plants in Dacula, Georgia, northeast of Atlanta, you’ll be working with other IEs and business process owners to help drive safe and efficient manufacturing operations. Our industrial engineers analyze and improve production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure high-quality output in the company’s manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Creates and manages material & labor routings and engineered standards in SAP for all manufactured products and production assets
- Performs capacity analysis for production and storage needs
- Identifies process improvements that drive out waste and incorporate best practices for safety, quality, and efficiency and
- Provides analytical decision support using core IE skills, mathematical tools, modeling and computational methods for system analysis, evaluation, and optimization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent process improvement experience in a manufacturing environment
- At least one (1) year of experience as an Industrial Engineer, including IE internships and student projects or
- At least two (2) years of experience providing analytical or technical support with a demonstrated ability to perform exceptional process improvement work
- Successful completion of the Maynard MOST certification program required upon hire
- Knowledge of IE techniques including statistical methods, queuing theory, deterministic and probabilistic operations analysis, ergonomics, facilities design, etc.
- Knowledge of forecasting, replenishment, inventory management, production scheduling, process flow, and line balancing principles
- Knowledge of data mining tools and best practices for database design
- Knowledge of financial and accounting concepts including NPV, IRR, ROI, and break-even
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel and Access, and basic knowledge of other Office applications
- Ability to apply mathematical and scientific skills and use quantitative methods like statistics and operations research through IE work measurement and process improvement
- Ability to apply interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills with both front-line associates and leaders, to build relationships and provide guidance
- Ability to design and interpret performance reports
- Ability to occasionally work a variable schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends to meet business needs, and
- Willingness to travel, including flights and overnight stays, to support business needs at remote locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, Statistics, Operations Research, or an MBA
- Two (2) or more years of experience as an Industrial Engineer
- Two (2) or more years of Publix experience
- Knowledge of food processing equipment, methodologies, systems, and technologies used in the bakery, dairy, deli, and fresh kitchen industries
- Knowledge of Manufacturing, Retail, Distribution, and support department functional roles, terms, and their detailed operating processes and procedures
- Knowledge of the master data that drives the forecasting, planning, production scheduling, shipping, inventory management, warehousing, purchasing and costing in SAP
- Knowledge of internal Publix data sources including SAP, Snowflake EDW, Informix Dallas Views, DB2, and SQL sources
- Knowledge of Publix’s accounting principles and tools
- Project management and facilitation skills, and
- Certified ‘green belt’ or higher in Lean/Six-Sigma.

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
