Description

The purpose of this position is to adjust non-attorney represented general liability claims. This role includes analyzing, investigating, and retrieving claim file information to determine Publix’s liability, communicating directly with customers, which includes informing them of Publix’s liability assessment and negotiating settlements. This position is also responsible for preliminarily identifying subrogation opportunities and appropriately referring claims to third parties with potential liability exposure when appropriate or escalating the subrogation issue to Specialist II or Supervisor. This position is also responsible for securing physical evidence related to customer events/claims. This position does not handle Fleet, CQA (Corporate Quality Assurance), QRE (Quality Related Event) and Crime and Casualty claims.

Primary Responsibilities

• This position is responsible for contacting injured customers by telephone and/or in writing to promote premier customer service and provide quick resolution of claims.
• This position is responsible for investigating reported customer events to ensure all necessary information is accurately captured should the customer assert a claim.
• This position is responsible for managing all customer shopping cart damage and property damage claims to ensure timely and equitable resolution.
• This position is responsible for securing physical evidence related to customer events, to assist in claims handling and potential future litigation.
• This position is responsible for complying with federally mandated Medicare reporting on settled claims.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent experience (if applicable)
• 1 year of customer service or 1 year of retail experience
• Ability to obtain Florida All Lines Adjuster License upon hire as well as reciprocal licenses for all the states that Publix operates in

• Basic skill level of Microsoft Word, Excel
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including working weekends, holidays and extended hours

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in any discipline
• 3 years of customer service experience or
• 3 years retail operations experience or
• 1 year at Publix
• Actively holds Florida All Lines Adjuster’s License
• Fluent in second language, preferably Spanish
• Knowledge of general insurance adjusting procedures, rules and ethics
• Knowledge of legal issues and burden of proof relating to GL and Auto negligence in all states Publix operates in
• Knowledge of legal issues and evidentiary standards relating to damages in all states that Publix operates.
• Knowledge of risk transfer and notice obligations relating to same
• Basic skill level of Microsoft Word, Excel
• Knowledge of risk management claims system
• Knowledge of Medicare reporting system
• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook

Year End Bonus

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November.
In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check.
In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
