Description
The purpose of this position is to provide financial analysis and operational reports to various levels of management within the Real Estate business area under the direction of the BAR-Manager Real Estate Accounting. This includes accounting, consulting, reporting, planning, auditing and analytical support for the Real Estate business area as well as analysis of data, review and understanding of real estate contract terminology, research of business area issues identified as a result of analysis and interacting with the business area.
The impact this position has on Publix is to help ensure that proper financial accounting and reporting is occurring for +$2.7B in company controlled assets.
Responsibilities include:
- Understanding the Real Estate business areas associated financial/ accounting practices, providing financial analysis, reporting, insight and question resolution to the Real Estate, Corporate Accounting and BAR Departments.
- Being a knowledgeable SME on the processes and procedures established for Real Estate Shopping Center Profit & Loss (P&L) statements and the supporting reports and documents that are provided to the Real Estate Team and Publix senior management.
- Providing subject matter expertise and business advisory support to the Real Estate Department to support processes and procedures associated with cost and investment planning, analysis and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or another analytical discipline with at least 2 years relevant business experience or equivalent
- Knowledge of accounting, budgeting and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of real estate ownership/operational environments (shopping center accounting)

OR
Associate’s degree in Accounting or another analytical discipline with at least 4 years business experience or equivalent
OR
High School diploma with at least 6 years business experience or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA with concentration in Accounting or Finance
- 3 years relevant business experience
- Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant or other certifications specific to the position
- Knowledge of major Publix technology systems and the inter-relationship of those systems
- Knowledge of Publix policies and guidelines
- Knowledge of other Publix business functions and departments
- Intermediate Microsoft Office (other than Excel), Compass (Real Estate Mgmt Software), Arc GIS (Real Estate Site Mapping Software), SAP, and Business Intelligence (BI)

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
