Join the Technology Architecture team! As an Automation Architect, you will be at the forefront of Publix’s adoption of new technologies and practices. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead technical innovation and make a significant impact on Publix’s technology landscape. Your role will be to lead a system automation journey to improve system delivery times for enterprise delivery teams. You will have the opportunity to revolutionize how systems are delivered through automation using modern automation tools and develop a DevOps vision for Publix.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop continuous integration, deployment, and automation strategy.
  • Develop strategic automation tools to improve project quality.
  • Lead automation projects and assessments.
  • Design, implement and document innovative and automated architectures for infrastructural services and systems administration tasks.
  • Participate in analysis and provisioning of innovative solutions for system engineering and design projects.
  • Evangelize, communicate and be a champion for the automation vision and technology stack to the development teams.
  • Act as a mentor for automation resources, as well as provide training to automation resources on strategies, standards, new tools, and processes.
  • Identify opportunities to deliver self-service capability for the most common infrastructure and application management tasks.
  • Document solutions, tools, and processes.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and demos.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent analytical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in IT with large-scale infrastructure implementations
  • 4+ years of experience as an Architect
  • 4+ years of experience leading the design and development of enterprise class applications and solutions
  • 3+ years of experience using modern programming in at least one or more modern scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, Java, C#)
  • 3+ years using IT infrastructure configuration and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform)
  • 3+ years of broad automation experience in build, test, configuration, and deployment in complex environments
  • 3+ years working with secure remote access/management and authentication technology and services (SSH, WinRM, Kerberos, OAuth)
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and building automation solutions (Custom or Pre-built)
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Containers, Serverless)
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with CI tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, TeamCity)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be able to demonstrate experience of implementing end-to-end system automation solutions in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Experience with event driven automation solutions and its application in a large enterprise.
  • Good communication skills – verbal and written – with the ability to collaborate well in a team and across organizations.
  • Experience leading technical teams to solve business challenges.
    • Experience coordinating with multiple project teams.

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
