If you ask Kassi’s kids what she does for a living, they’ll tell you she saves the Earth—and honestly, they’re not far off. 

As manager of sustainability programs, Kassi leads Publix’s environmental efforts with heart, strategy, and a deep commitment to long-term impact. 

Kassi leads a team that oversees programs like recycling and conservation, shaping sustainability communications, and building partnerships with nonprofit organizations. Her work centers on developing initiatives that position Publix as a leader in environmental sustainability while supporting long-term business success. 

For Kassi, no two days are alike. Some days, she’s reviewing project updates and budgets in the morning, then collaborating with internal teams to expand recycling efforts in the afternoon. But the moments that make her job rewarding happen elsewhere. “My absolute favorite days are when I get the opportunity to get outside the office and visit with our nonprofit partners and see firsthand the positive impacts we are making on the environment.” 

Kassi spent eight years in customer care and social media, gaining a strong understanding of customers and cross-functional collaboration. Earlier experience has helped her develop the storytelling skills she now uses to communicate Publix’s sustainability efforts. Throughout her career, she’s strengthened her abilities in data analysis, communication, and delivering high-quality work under pressure. 

“My favorite part of my job is having the opportunity to make a positive impact on the planet on behalf of Publix while working with some amazing people and nonprofits to get the job done.” The coral reef restoration project in the Florida Keys is one initiative especially close to her heart. 

She joined Publix in 2013 and celebrated her 13-year anniversary in March 2026. Outside of work, Kassi loves spending time outdoors with her family, tending to her growing collection of indoor plants, hunting for great taco spots, and jamming out to pop music with her kids. Her philosophy? “Surround yourself with tacos, not negativity. And, in a world where you can be anything, be kind.”
