Refrigeration Technician 3, Facilities Refrigeration -Pensacola Area

As a Publix Refrigeration Technician, you will have the opportunity to provide premier customer service to our retail stores through daily preventive maintenance and service of our refrigeration rack systems. You can make a difference in the quality and reliability of our refrigeration systems by applying your expert knowledge of the trade while serving as a full time Publix associate.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • performing preventive maintenance and repairs on the rack refrigeration systems for all refrigerant types in Publix retail locations
  • performing preventive maintenance and repairs on the refrigeration systems of remote cases
  • visiting stores and communicating with retail management to ensure their HVAC and refrigeration systems are functioning as designed
  • evaluating and providing oversight and guidance to refrigeration service contractors to ensure safe, timely, and high quality service for our retail locations
  • performing general maintenance and repairs on refrigeration controllers and Energy Management Systems
  • providing training and mentoring to less experienced refrigeration technicians on maintenance of advanced refrigeration systems
  • performing general administrative tasks, including:
    • maintaining vehicle inventory and cleanliness
    • reconciling credit card statements and other paperwork associated with the position
  • responding to emergencies after normal working hours and weekends when needed
Required Qualifications
  • high school diploma or its equivalent
  • HVAC or Refrigeration Trade school completion or equivalent
  • five (5) years working in supermarket refrigeration
  • ability to read and interpret schematics involving integrated systems of electrical, EMS, mechanical, refrigeration and plumbing
  • expert knowledge of refrigerant management usage; EPA Clean Air Act, understanding of various refrigerants and usage, etc.
  • intermediate knowledge of computerized maintenance field service management systems
  • intermediate knowledge of EMS and Case Controller Programming languages
  • time management skills
  • advanced knowledge in Food Safety
  • ability to analyze information and data
  • ability to communicate both verbally and in a written format
  • interpersonal skills and the ability to manage a group of people
  • willingness to work a flexible schedule; including nights, weekends, and to travel with overnight stays
  • ability to lift/lower/climb ladders/walk on roofs
  • must by 21 years of age
  • must be able to have and maintain and excellent driving record
Preferred Qualifications
  • seven (7) years working in supermarket refrigeration service
  • knowledge of Publix Retail store operations
Minimum Base Pay 32.45 Maximum Base Pay 44.85 Frequency of Pay Weekly Hours of Work 7:00am - 4:00pm Monday - Friday Travel Frequency 0% Year End Bonus To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check.
