Senior Financial Business Analyst, Fresh RBU Support Team - Lakeland

- Proactively sharing financial and operational results with RBU management to assist them in understanding historical trends, designing improvements, and measuring results of implemented improvements
- Developing the databases, worksheets, and queries for capturing and reporting useful information to enable fact-based decision-making
- Supporting the preparation of the Operating Cost Plan annual reforecast and plan development
- Reporting actual results against expected results, identifying trends, monitoring the financial results of the overall business units and corporate performance through the development, and tracking of appropriate KPIs
- Providing updates on significant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Strategic Business Units (SBUs), as well as economic performance for Publix operating areas
- Providing subject matter expertise to the Fresh RBUs on various financial questions
- Responsible for preparing and summarizing conclusions for various ad-hoc requests to support RBU management in answering business questions outside the scope of business initiatives
- Identifying opportunities and recommending actions to improve financial performance in daily operations, as well as, ongoing projects, which requires an in-depth understanding of the subject matter to calculate and communicate the potential impact of various change recommendations
- Responsible for supporting RBUs on tactical projects, requests, and other analytical needs
- Participating on small to mid-sized project teams and in discussions regarding the financial and operational implications of proposed business decisions
- Mentoring/training Business Analysts and other associates as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or another analytical discipline with at least 3 years relevant analytical business experience, or equivalent, or
- Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting or another analytical discipline with at least 4 years business experience, or equivalent, or
- High School diploma with at least 6 years business experience, or equivalent
- Knowledge of Accounting and/or Finance principles, general business practices and financial statements
- Knowledge of analytical techniques, including how to quickly identify and correct logical flaws and/or shortcomings, as well as improve the overall accuracy of the analysis
- Ability to prepare and summarize fact-based information to share with various levels of the organization
- Proven strong ability to prioritize tasks and adhere to deadlines while ensuring accuracy
- Demonstrated use of good analytical skills (including math & statistics), and problem-solving skills
- Must be self-motivated, requiring little direction in day-to-day activities
- Good interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills
- Ability to train peers and new associates
- Ability to communicate and listen effectively with various levels of Publix associates
- Ability to quickly develop an understanding of new information, processes, and technologies

- MBA with concentration in Accounting or Finance or a Master’s degree in a relevant business field with at least 4 years relevant analytical business experience or equivalent
- Ability to analyze financial statements, understand the relationships between them and identify and explain the key drivers
- Knowledge of the Publix retail store environment and operations
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Experience using software such as SAP, BPC, ESM, SharePoint, Host, PIMs, Marwood, Microstrategy, Nielsen, APT Test & Learn, etc. and the interrelationships of those systems
- Knowledge of other Publix Business Units, including their basic roles and responsibilities
- Knowledge of the RBUs, their results and how they influence other departments and overall corporate results
