Retail Accounting Database Controller - Lakeland

The Database Controller is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining Access databases of moderate complexity to support Payroll and Retail Accounting; evaluate best practices and methods for obtaining and maintaining accurate data from multiple data sources. This position also develops program/query specification documents, system design guides, training and reference materials. This includes developing databases then making changes based on issues identified by testing the database, or if updates in processes, laws, or requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Business or Information Technology or equivalent analytical experience
  • Advanced computer and electronics knowledge including experience with hardware, software, and computer systems and processes
  • Advanced knowledge of HOST DB2 tables, SAP, and SAP ad-hoc query function
  • In depth knowledge of MS Access database design techniques, tools, and principles including knowledge of SQL/pass-through queries, Visual Basic programming, development of complex formulas and expressions such as nested IIF statements and MID functions
  • High level knowledge of I/S processes interacting with payroll

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Information Technology or equivalent analytical experience
  • 5 years of experience with integrated systems and 5 years’ experience working with advanced MS Office applications and database development
  • Project Management Experience
Frequency of Pay Weekly Hours of Work 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday (Standard schedule). Flex schedule is offered. Travel Frequency 0% Year End Bonus To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
