The purpose of this position is to perform research, provide analysis, design, and document cost effective and code compliant Mechanical Engineering designs for Publix retail facilities which meet functional and aesthetic requirements set by corporate direction. You will be responsible for the development, design and review of Mechanical Engineering Construction Documents that are necessary to build New Stores, Remodels and Special Projects for Publix. What you’ll be doing:

designing and drawing construction documents that are accurate, code compliant and consistent with Publix design standards utilizing CADD
solving mechanical, refrigeration and plumbing design issues by performing calculation of plumbing, cooling, heating and refrigeration loads utilizing computer-based design calculation software
conducting interdisciplinary plan review and coordination of designs (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, refrigeration) ensuring that all design criteria is received from internal facilities and Retail customers
modifying prototypical designs to meet site specific requirements and revising the final design as necessary throughout the life of the project
working with various departments to resolve any design related problems, concerns or conflicts during the design and construction process
researching, reviewing, and rejecting/approving HVAC, plumbing and fire protection submittals

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering college or university
EI certification
knowledge of building systems, construction documents, building codes and how they inter-relate with other design disciplines
knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, psychrometrics, and HVAC load calculations
knowledge of Fluids and Pipe flow theory
knowledge of drafting skills and technique
intermediate knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, and/or Revit
basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
analytical, communication, research, networking collaboration and conflict resolution skills

Preferred Qualifications

4+ years’ Mechanical Engineering design experience (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and refrigeration design) in the retail grocery industry
EI certification and actively preparing to test for the PE exam
knowledge of Revision Request Process
knowledge of CQI Methodology – WIN, QIP, Improvement Project and QDPs

Potential Annual Pay with Bonus 68,900 - 104.520 Additional Required Qualifications
Minimum Base Pay 5,300.00 Maximum Base Pay 8,040.00 Additional Preferred Qualifications
Frequency of Pay Monthly Hours of Work Minimum of 45 hours per week Year End Bonus As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
