The GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Data Analyst role will support and influence strategic decisions by using spatial analytics, geographic enrichment of business data, and related data visualization techniques to garner insights and provide recommendations most often related to potential store locations, emerging/ alternative business locations, product placement, and a wide variety of varying requests surrounding human geography. This role supports the GIS and Location Analytics team by ensuring key systems are current, managed, and maintained.

The responsibilities listed for this position include

  • Maintaining and updating the automation of reoccurring tasks and processes via Python, Alteryx, ESRI ModelBuilder, JSON, and/or JavaScript that support all GIS & Location Analytics projects and data visualizations displayed via GeoPortal
  • Maintaining various databases of spatial information and internally developed online GIS applications
  • Performing routine and ad-hoc computerized geographic information processing tasks, applying GIS techniques for analysis (spatial analytical solutions) and creating deliverables for a variety of departments
  • Ensuring that data quality and spatial information is reliable, consistently maintained, streamlined, and governed
  • Assisting in the receipt and verification of standard data deliverables associated with established vendor relationships
  • Dedicating time to marketing innovation and quality improvement
  • Managing special Marketing related assignments
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or another analytical discipline from an accredited college or university or its equivalent.
  • 1-year in an analytical role specializing in data manipulation, interpretation, report writing, and map generation (For recent College Graduates, these requirements can be satisfied by relevant coursework)
  • 1-year analytical experience using a Geographic Information System (GIS) specializing in demographic analyses (For recent College Graduates, these requirements can be satisfied by relevant coursework)
  • Ability to develop data visualizations
  • Basic knowledge of ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, Python, JavaScript and/or JSON Coding
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work a variable work schedule as needed including nights, holidays, weekends, and extended hours to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or another analytical discipline
  • 3 - 5 years in an analytical role specializing in data manipulation, interpretation, and report writing and map generation
  • 3 - 5 years analytical experience using a Geographic Information System (GIS) specializing in demographics, consumer behavior, Business (Economic) Geography, and site selection
  • Geographic Information System Professional (GISPP Certification
  • Broad knowledge of the data and analytics methods used by the Marketing Analytics and Consumer Insights function
  • Deep knowledge of data and analytics methods within GIS
  • Alteryx and the Alteryx Server or similar Business Intelligence (BI) Tools
  • Basic knowledge of Publix business systems, including: PIMS, PPMS, EDW
  • Basic knowledge of Marketing Systems: ECMS, MCMS, Marketing Analytics DB (MADb) SQL Server, Geospatial Data Sources, Acxiom InfoBase, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Krux DMP, Datorama, MRM Resource Management Tool
Frequency of Pay Weekly Hours of Work 40 hours per week. Year End Bonus

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
