ID 20327BR Date Posted 06/24/2022 Location Lakeland, FloridaThe Financial Sr. Business Consultant position on the Business Analysis & Reporting (BAR) team that supports the Grocery and Replenishment & Purchasing Support Retail Business Units (RBUs) provides analysis, direction, consultation, leadership, planning, performance measurement and specialized business and strategic financial advisory services to various levels of the assigned RBU and cross-functional strategic initiative teams to enable and support information-based decision making.
It serves as financial point of contact for assigned business functions, managing and ensuring consistent support in both strategic and regularly recurring decision-making processes. The incumbent is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with broad knowledge in the field of financial analysis, responsible for project managing. This position works on larger, more complex projects both for the RBU supported as well as corporate level projects that may span multiple RBUs.
The Financial Sr Business Consultant is also to consult with business partners across the enterprise to provide financial-based recommendations to support strategic decision needs that require BAR financial input. These recommendations are regularly relied upon as the primary input into final decision-making processes for matters of significance, and influence strategic decisions related to the products, services, or Publix locations our customers have access to as well as internal efficiencies that result in improved use of Publix resources, ultimately impacting both sales and profitability.

Primary Responsibilities:
- serving as a financial point of contact for assigned Corporate Purchasing business functions, managing and ensuring consistent support in both strategic and regularly recurring decision-making processes
- serving as an organizational thought leader and proactively advocating for viewpoints associated with their domain of expertise, while supporting and reinforcing recommendations and standards brought forth from across the Financial Analysis function
- providing comprehensive analytical consulting to support one or more assigned business functions, in addition to generally providing financial-based recommendations to support strategic decision needs for the Retail Business Units (RBUs) and across the enterprise (as assigned) that require financial input
- consulting and providing financial-based analyses to support tactical and RBU project needs for the assigned RBUs that require financial input
- managing analysis & reporting and Ad-hoc requests to ensure assigned RBUs are properly informed on decisions
- developing and supporting corporate financial and strategic planning, forecasting, and reporting structures
- mentoring/training financial Business Consultants, Sr. Business Analysts, Business Analysts, and other associates as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or another analytical discipline with at least 5 years relevant business experience or equivalent

- Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA with concentration in Accounting or Finance with at least 8 years relevant business experience or equivalent
- Knowledge of other Publix Business Units, including their basic roles and responsibilities
- Knowledge of Accounting and/or Finance principles, general business practices and financial statements and business practices specific to Publix
- Knowledge of analytical techniques, including how to quickly identify and correct logical flaws and/or shortcomings, as well as improve the overall accuracy of the analysis
- Knowledge of the RBUs, their results and how they influence other departments and overall corporate results
- Knowledge of statistics and quantitative methods
- Knowledge of the Publix retail store environment and operations
- Knowledge of Activity Based Costing and ShrinkSmart
- Ability to prepare and summarize fact-based information to share with various levels of the organization

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Highly skilled in the use of advanced spreadsheet functions and techniques. Proficient in the effective use of Access databases to write complex queries and VBA code.
- Advanced knowledge of Publix systems/ data sources (SAP, EDW, Host, PIMs, Marwood, FINDSS, DB2, Store Accounting, Oasis, EDW, Supplemental Data, Nielsen, etc.) and the interrelationships of those systems
- Advanced knowledge of MicroStrategy Developer or similar data visualization tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
