Corporate Communications Strategist

The Corporate Communications Strategist oversees the daily operations of Publix’s efforts to communicate with associates, stockholders and retirees through traditional print platforms, location communication meetings and leadership presentations. This position serves as an expert in associate-directed/corporate-focused communication messages, which includes determining the company’s voice and tone to stakeholders.

Additional responsibilities:
  • manages Publix’s internal brand efforts
  • assists in the development of roadmaps for future communications
  • manages and develops corporate communication team
  • collaborates with cross-functional project teams and business areas to solve communication related challenges and needs
Potential Annual Pay with Bonus 75,530 - 113,880 Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in public relations, journalism, strategic communications, mass communications, new media, or related field or equivalent experience
  • at least five (5) years of experience in public relations, journalism or business communication and
  • at least four (4) years of experience in multimedia/electronic communication and
  • at least three (3) years of experience of managing associates and
  • at least four (4) years of experience managing projects and
  • at least five (5) years of experience working with senior leadership and
  • at least one (1) year of experience using and defining metrics for communications programs
  • knowledge of best practices in the use and purpose of traditional and digital communication platforms
  • knowledge of communication principles and social media strategies
  • knowledge of copyright and communication laws, and benefits, insurance and financial terminology
  • knowledge of online and printed writing styles, including Associated Press
  • strong ability to edit written communications
  • strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • knowledge of printing process and terminology
  • knowledge of photographic design and elements, and video standards
  • intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint
  • basic knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and Google Analytics
  • willingness to be on call 24/7 and work nights, weekends, holidays and overnights, up to a week at a time, to meet business needs
  • willingness to travel via plane or car to locations throughout the company and to additional areas for training or research purposes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a communications or business field
  • eight (8) or more years of experience in public relations, journalism or business communication
  • six (6) or more years of experience in multimedia/electronic communication
  • five (5) or more years of experience of managing associates
  • six (6) or more years of experience managing projects
  • bilingual (Spanish, including experience in translation)
  • Accredited in Public Relations (APR), Accredited in Business Communication (ABC), or Certified Public Relations Professional Counselor (CPRC)
  • knowledge of the supermarket retail industry and business
  • knowledge of Publix’s history, community image and vision/mission statement
