Join the Point-of-Sale Modernization team! As a Sr. Software Engineer, you are responsible for partnering with product owners, business systems analysts, architecture, and engineering teams to deliver secure, compliant, and scalable technology solutions. This position leads, designs, develops, unit tests, debugs, supports, and documents the technical aspects of the technology solutions within the Point-of-Sale modernization portfolio. The ability to create new, modern, responsive, and well tested software solutions is a must. In addition, you are required to lead, guide and mentor software engineers to guide them in following Publix’s development best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Write or modify highly complex modern software solutions from technical designs, program specifications and/or product backlog items under general guidance.
- Write, modify, and automate unit test plans, scripts, and cases for highly complex programs and/or application packages.
- Willing to participate in and be an advocate for Test Driven Development
- Facilitate and conduct technical knowledge transfers and code reviews.
- Perform after hours support on technical solutions within the product portfolio.
- Lead technical team through problem determination and resolution on highly complex problems.
- Lead and perform development, debugging, and technical support for technical solutions within the product portfolio.
- Coach and guide software engineers through technical tasks and work with product owners, business areas, and technical experts to implement secure and compliant technical solutions.
- Lead and coordinate technical solution design for highly complex technology solutions under general guidance architecture, technical leads, systems analysts, and product owners.
- Define technical scope, estimates, and risks, to the business systems analyst, product owner, and/or portfolio manager for development activities.
- Perform industry research and make recommendations regarding technical enhancements, new features, technology, and infrastructure to continuously improve technical solutions within product portfolio.
- Ensure technology solutions and enhancements meet or exceed change management, security, and compliance policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other analytical discipline or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- 5+ years of experience with designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-level applications.
- 3+ years’ experience analyzing business problems and translating business requirements into technology solutions using object-oriented analysis and design, design patterns, service-oriented architecture, and solution frameworks.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and developing REST APIs
- 3+ years of experience with TFS/Git code management, DevOps Integration, DevOps Pipelines, or other CI/CD tools
- 3+ years’ experience with Data storage technologies (such as SQL server)
- 3+ years of experience with Microsoft .NET Core
- 3+ years of experience with C#
- 2+ years of enterprise level Angular front-end experience
- Experience with Agile software development cycles.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
- 7+ years of experience with designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-level applications.
- 5+ years’ experience analyzing business problems and translating business requirements into technology solutions using object-oriented analysis and design, design patterns, service-oriented architecture, and solution frameworks.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and developing REST APIs
- 5+ years of experience with TFS/Git code management, DevOps Integration, DevOps Pipelines, or other CI/CD tools
- 5+ years’ experience with Data storage technologies (such as SQL server and SQLite)
- 5+ years of experience with Microsoft .NET Core, C#, Python, XML/JSON, XSLT, YAML, and PowerShell
- 4+ years of enterprise level Angular front-end experience
- 2+ years of experience with Agile software development cycles

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
