Description

Publix Super Markets is consistently ranked as one of the premier food retailers in the U.S. We are privately-owned, hold no long-term debt, and continue to grow year after year. Publix and our associates excel in community involvement, volunteerism, and environmental sustainability. Our collective commitment to diversity has contributed to our success in being a great place to work and shop. It’s satisfying to work for — and be an owner of — a Fortune 100 company that is widely recognized as a leader in the supermarket industry.

The Environmental & Sustainability Programs department engages in environmentally responsible business practices to reduce Publix’s impact on the environment while conserving natural resources and ensuring economic stewardship for our stockholders. Within the department, the Refrigeration and PFAS Programs Manager oversees the regulatory programs and projects focused on required chemical reporting, recordkeeping, testing, and other restrictions related to certain chemical substances and mixtures.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Managing Retail Refrigeration and Comfort Cooling regulatory programs and acting as SME for all EPA refrigerant regulations involving ozone depleting substances and refrigerants with high global warming potential
  • Managing the anhydrous ammonia and gaseous chlorine process safety and risk management programs and acting as SME for Clean Air Act Section 112(r) regulations regarding chemical accident prevention programs
  • Developing, managing, and improving the new per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) compliance programs
  • Evaluating the need for compliance program related projects in response to federal, state, and local regulatory changes or significant operational changes affecting applicable environmental programs

In Publix’s corporate offices, we value in-person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. Many of Publix’s corporate offices offer work from home up to two days a week. Each business area implements their policy differently and should be discussed during interviews.
