The Environmental and Sustainability Program department plays a critical role in the implementation of company-wide environmental compliance and sustainability efforts. Within the department, the Environmental Compliance Coordinator manages specific programs and supports strategic initiatives for the successful development, implementation, and execution of company-wide environmental compliance efforts. The Compliance Coordinator will work to achieve goals by which the integrity of Publix will be evaluated by customers, peers, and regulatory agencies.
What you’ll do
- Oversee day-to-day storage tank program compliance
- Coordinate grease program compliance including grease traps, underground grease interceptors, and yellow grease collection companywide through communication and interactions with regulatory agencies and authorities, along with internal departments
- Assist all levels of management with various tasks necessary to ensure Publix’s compliance with hazardous waste programs
- Support management with components of the Department of Transportation (DOT) program
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least three years of analytical and compliance support experience in an environmental compliance corporate, regulatory or consulting program
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint
- General knowledge of government agencies and how permitting and compliance programs work
- Ability to effectively manage workload, including analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to follow through, be accurate, and detail oriented
- Ability to be exposed to and handle highly confidential information
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a science or analytical related field from an accredited college or university
- Five or more years of analytical and compliance support experience in an environmental compliance corporate, regulatory or consulting program
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint
- General knowledge of all Publix operations, including retail, manufacturing, warehousing, and support
- Knowledge of Publix organizational and corporate structure
- Knowledge of Publix policies including code of ethics, philosophy, mission and vision
- Knowledge of Publix’s hazardous materials program, particularly related to management of hazardous waste and DOT regulated materials

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
