The purpose of this position is to support Corporate Compliance’s leg of the GRC (Governance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Compliance) Framework for the Ethics Compliance Program for Publix Super Markets, Inc.

  • Responsible for developing, leading, facilitating, and maintaining strategic and critical legal, regulatory, and compliance teams.
  • Responsible for providing strategic and operational reporting on assigned compliance programs to various levels of management, including executive leadership.
  • Responsible for ensuring assigned compliance programs align with Corporate Compliance and Ethics Program (CCEP) framework.
  • Responsible for managing, monitoring, and auditing assigned compliance program elements for consistency of operational execution.
  • Responsible for executing assigned compliance program processes such as training completion monitoring.
  • Responsible for investigating reports of non-compliance and working with management to correct and mitigate any non-compliant activities.
  • Responsible for evaluating assigned compliance content in education and training programs, and leading positive and proactive change management efforts through development/ redevelopment of such programs as needed.
  • Responsible for providing and maintaining expertise and knowledge in the assigned compliance fields and keeping well-informed of industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline (e.g., business management, project management, legal studies) or equivalent work experience in an analytical discipline.
  • At least four (4) years of experience independently managing projects.
  • At least four (4) years of experience working with legal or regulatory processes or equivalent experience.
  • At least five (5) years of experience developing process documentation and/or analyzing business processes or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience of project management techniques, strategic planning, and continuous quality improvement methodology.
  • Knowledge of Chapter Eight of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines and other similar rules relating to executing effective corporate compliance programs.
  • Advanced level skills of Microsoft 365 apps (e.g., Excel, SharePoint, Word).
  • Proven experience managing multiple, high priority projects/assignments simultaneously with varied timelines, diverse collaborators, and changing priorities.
  • Passionate about digging into a problem and figuring it out.
  • Self-motivated/ability to work with limited supervision, attentive to details, and able to deliver all required results within the given timelines.
  • Willingness to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six (6) or more years of experience independently managing large cross-functional projects involving multiple business areas.
  • Six (6) or more years of management-level or decision-making experience working in legal or regulatory functions (e.g., audit, compliance, etc.).
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience developing process documentation and/or analyzing business processes.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Ethics laws, regulations, policies and procedures and the ability to apply this knowledge in assessing risk.
  • Experience with Ethics compliance requirements.
  • Expert level skills of Microsoft 365 SharePoint, and Word
  • Advanced level skill for MS Excel
  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), or Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC).

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
